Peripheral adverse events3,19

  • Dry mouth -> dental problems, decreased sense of taste, decreased appetite and nutritional status, difficulty in speaking, increase in respiratory infections
  • Constipation -> abdominal pain, paralytic ileus, increased use of laxatives, deterioration of nutritional status, decrease in quality of life, blood circulation in heart and brain can be compromised during a stressful bowel movement
  • Urinary retention -> discomfort, pain, increased urinary tract infections, increased need for catheterization
  • Difficulty in accommodation, mydriasis, increased risk of narrow-angle glaucoma, blurring of vision, weakening of near vision
  • Tachycardia
